Juan Carlos Duron-Martinez is a self-taught artist stationed in Wilson, NC. He immigrated from his place of birth in Leon, Guanajuato Mexico to The United States in 2002 at the age of 8 years old. He has spent the better half of his life in Wilson, where he grew up and has lived for the last couple of years and counting. He established an interest in art from a young age as he experimented with different mediums and eventually found his true calling in Watercolor. In his early works his interests lied mostly in portraiture, inspired by the great Frida Kahlo’s work, and strived to achieve a hyper realistic look. As Carlos’s work progressed, he turned to landscape and architectural paintings as a form of developing his skill while exploring his interest in new subjects. Carlos continues to explore new mediums including chalk and pastels and hopes to continue developing his skill. Lately Carlos has also revisited graphite and is exploring new ways to blend multiple mediums together.
