This exhibition presents a selection of work from youth that have participated in the youth photography workshops held during the Eyes on Main Street Photography Festival since 2016. Students, age seven to seventeen, received a brief and concentrated presentation on the fundamentals of photography. They then, along with mentors from Columbia College Chicago and visiting festival photographers, explored Historic Downtown Wilson in small groups with Canon Rebel digital cameras, making photographs of the people, architecture, and nature. The exhibition also includes work from a sports photography workshops held in 2018 and 2019 in collaboration with
The workshops where organized in partnership with local schools, after school care groups and community groups. Programing was supported by the Diane Dammeyer Initiative from Columbia College Chicago, Canon USA, Hahnemühle FineArt and the generous locals of Wilson. Overall this program has reached approximately 350 young people from Wilson so far and we are excited to continue our programing as part of the 7th Edition of the Eyes on Main Street Festival.
